How to Uninstall Windows: If upgraded your computer to Windows from a previous version of Windows, Windows Setup Wizard may have backed up your current operating system. (The windows backup files are named Backup.cab and Boot.cab and have been stored in C:\Undo directory, that's assuming that Windows is installed on your C:\ drive.) If it is, you may uninstall Windows and return your old Windows OS (operating system). Be sure to backup all of your data files before you start to uninstall Windows. Or you will be sorry. Note: If you have made any changed your partitions or drives since installing Windows, you usually can't uninstall it.

Follow these steps to uninstall Windows!

1. Go to >Choose Start >Control Panel >Add or Remove Programs.

2. Look for Windows Uninstall, if Windows Uninstall appears in the Currently Installed Programs, then you can uninstall it.

3. Now click on Windows Uninstall. Additional information should appears.

4. Now click on the Change/Remove button. You should see the Uninstall Windows dialog box.

5. Now choose Uninstall Windows and click on Continue.

You need to follow all of the directions on your screen. After the uninstall process is finished, your computer restarts and runs your previous Windows OS (operating system). WinXpFix.com

Note: Uninstalling Windows doesn't delete your all your data files. However, most programs that you have installed after you installed Windows probably won't work. All you have to do to fix this, just reinstall them again. If you have created any documents or files, they should still be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\username\.

If you reinstall Windows or other operating systems, or copy or delete partitions, you may end up with Boot.ini entries for partitions that aren't really there. The System Configuration Utility can check the entries in your Boot.ini file and delete those that no longer refer to an installed operating system. Follow these steps to check your Boot.ini file: By WinXpFic.com!

1. Go to >Start >Run, you need to type in msconfig, and press ENTER.

2. Now, you need to click on the BOOT.INI tab.

3. You need to click on >Check All Boot Paths.

4. If an entry no longer refers to the location of a valid operating system, Windows will displays a message asking whether to delete the line from Boot.ini.

5. You need to click Yes to remove the line (so the operating system won't appear on your boot menu) or No if you choose to leave it. WinXpFix.com

When you upgraded to Windows, Windows Setup Wizard may have kept a backup copy of your previous OS (operating system), which can occupy about 70MB or more of hard drive space. If you are very sure that you will never want to uninstall Windows and go back to you old OS, you can follow these steps to delete the previous OS (operating system) files and free up a lot of hard drive space. I recommend that you don't delete you old OS right away, give yourself a few weeks to decided if you want to go back to you old OS. WinXpFix.com

1. Go to >Start >Control Panel >Add Or Remove Programs.

2. Look for Windows Uninstall if ti appears in the Currently Installed Programs list, there is a backup copy of your previous OS (operating system).

3. If you click on Windows Uninstall. Additional information should appear.

4. Now, click on Change/Remove button. You should see the Uninstall Windows dialog box.

5. Now, click on Remove The Backup Of My Previous Operating System, and then click Continue. Windows should deletes all of the unneeded file.

How to Editing Boot.ini

You can edit the Boot.ini file by using one of three Windows programs: The System Properties dialog box (which provides fewer choices), the System Configuration Utility (which displays the whole file for editing), or Notepad.

To display the System Properties dialog box, click Start, right-click My Computer, and choose Properties from the menu that appears. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Click the Settings button in the Startup And Recovery section. You see the Startup And Recovery dialog box.
